Occurrence is on a south-facing lower slope of a forested mountain. The slope ends to the south at a wide, flat, agricultural bottomland with a large stream. Vegetation to the east grades to virginia pine-dominated shale barren. To the north (uplsope the grade is not as steep) towards the summit and to the west (where the aspect becomes westerly) there is much less of the herbaceous shale barren species and fewer pines.;The deciduous canopy is homogenous and nearly overlapping. There are a few scattered pines, mainly in the subcanopy. No Arabis seotina was located.
